Second take review

Vera is a nineteen year old girl full of dreams of being an actress. She leaves her village to go to Moscow to go to an acting school and even got a role in a movie. She is on her way back to Moscow from a visit to her home when she is drugged and sold as a slave in her country. She is able to escape and get back but her life has completely changed her life.
I found this story really well written and I could feel for the main character.

Dork Diaries vol. 1 review

Dork Diaries volume 1 tells the story from the point of view of the main character Nikki Maxwell.  It starts with Nikki wanting a new phone and getting a diary instead.  The reader realizes that the story is actually Nikki writing in said diary.  Nikki writes about the events happening after she transfers to a new school because of her fathers job.  She has a girl named Mackenzie who is the most popular girl in school and is making Nikki's stay at the new school not fun.  Nikki and Mackenzie both enter the art contest and at the end Nikki wins.  Nikki along the way make friends with Zoey and Chloe and also makes friends with her crush Brandon.
I find this book great for young girls who liked the Wimpy Kid books but want one from a girl point of view.   I really liked how this book was written and am looking forward to reading more from the series.

HOA Wire review

HOA Wire is about the murder of the HOA president of the community of Orange Grove, California.  Barbara Densmore is the President of the Orange Grove Homeowners Association and is murdered from Ricin.   Detectives find a cellophane wrapper with traces of Ricin on it in the garbage of Nancy Haskins.  Through out the book we see the trial process of the murder trial.  The trial portion was written in great detail and that there is a twist at the end of the book.
I really liked this book and I really liked how the trial parts were written in so much detail.  I liked how it showed how the defense and prosecution work during murder trials and how they present their evidence.

The Clue of the Black Key Review

As you may know by now I'm a huge Nancy Drew fan.  I think these books are great for girls and boys that love mystery books that has a strong female character.  The series has been around for a long time and books are still being published all the time.
In the clue of the black keys Nancy just arrived home from trip to New York.   Upon leaving the airport Nancy notices and altercation between two men.  One of the men Terry Scott advises Nancy that the man he was arguing with stole a tablet and kidnapped a fellow professor in Mexico.  Terry then tells Nancy about a legend of a treasure and that he and the other professor were looking for it.  Nancy interested now offers to help find the missing professor.
I like how this was written and that there was suspense until the very end. I really like this series and I think anyone who loves mysteries will like this series too.
