Surrender New York by Caleb Carr book review

 















     This is a really good mystery book.  I found it very interesting and could not put it down.  I found the characters amusing and the plot thrilling. 
     The book starts by introducing our two profilers who are Trajan and Mike.  They are called to a murder scene and while there notice that everything looks staged and out of place.  They then realize that the murder is connected to other murders of children in the area.  These children are known as throw away children.  As they investigate they meet a child named Lucas who joins the team to help solve what is going on.  They have quite an adventure and the ending is lets just say wasn't what I was expecting.
     My favorite part of the book is when you have Lucas and Trajan talking near the end.  There is sort of a father son relationship at that time and you can see it in how they talk to each other. 
     I highly recommend reading this book.  If you like mysteries this is a great book to read.

Cunningham"s Encylcopedia of Magical Herbs by Scott Cunningham

     This book is a guide to different herbs and what they were used for in Wiccan and other cultures.  It is a great reference guide for any kind of herb.  It can be used as a quick reference or you can use if for a good read to learn more about herbs.
     This book is more of a reference book about different herbs that were used for Wiccan or other cultures practice.  It goes into the differenct terms they are called, Gods and Goddess', and what the herb was used for.  It also gives what planet represents the plant and they also have genders.
     My favorite part of the book was just the history of each herb and what some cultures used the herb for.  I found it quite interesting and loved reading the whole thing and will be using it as a quick reference on my bookshelf.
     I highly recommend this to anyone interested in plants and history of what plants were used for what.  This book is like I said a great reference for people interested in these kinds of herbs.

Buried Secrets by Emme Rollins

    This book is a great paranormal romance with action and adventure in it.  It starts out very sad and then you get caught up in the mystery behind the sadness.  You also get to feel that you are some how connected to one of the characters.  It is a real page turner of a story.
     The book focuses on Dusty and the loss that she has just had.  It follows her as she finds out what happened and also finding out who she is.  She realizes that she was a shadow of someone else and becomes her own person.  She also finds out some family secrets that might have caused her to loose the one person she cared about.  That there is a monster out there and that it must be stopped.
     My favorite part of the book is when she is with her friends at the bar she works at to come up with a plan to kill the thing that has been killing innocent people in town.  That even though you can tell that she is scared; she is still wanting to go with the plan so no one else gets hurt. 
     If you love paranormal books with romance mixed in than this book is for you.  It mixes the right amount of romance along with paranormal elements and action.  This will be a real page turner that you will not want to put it down until you find out what happens next.

Herbal Medicine by Michael Green

    This book gives an introduction to herbal medicine.  It helps the reader on knowing how often to take herbs and what they can be used for.  It also gives an overview of what herbal medicine is and how it was used in the past.
     The book mainly talks about different herbs and goes into some detail about what each herb is, what it contains and what it can be used for.  It also gives a brief history of what the herbs were used for in the past.
     My favorite part of the book is the descriptions of different herbs.  I like that it gives some history of what it was used for long ago in other countries of where the herb came from.  Some actually give what different parts of certain plants can be used for that I found really interesting.
     I recommend this book to someone who is looking for alternatives to other medicine.  I'm not saying that not to use medication for very severe illnesses but this is for someone who maybe gets a migraine but hates taking over the counter or prescription medication for it and wants to use something else.

My Sister the Vampire: Fangtastic by Sienna Mercer book review

    This is the second book in the My Sister the Vampire series.  I am really enjoying this series and recommend this to anyone with children in the age group of 5th grade to middle school.  The reason I am into this series is because I loves stories that have twins in it and because I am a twin as well.
     This book takes up where the first book left off.  Ivy and Olivia are still excited about finding out that they are twins and are now looking into finding out about their birth parents.  But they have to deal with a problem when a reporter comes to town and believes that vampires live there.  Now Ivy and Olivia need to figure out how to protect the vampire community so that they won't be separated again.
     My favorite part is when they are able to tell their friends that they are twins.  All of their friends are shocked but happy to find out why the two have become so close friends.  They even do celebrating.
     I highly recommend this to anyone in the 5th grade to middle age area and are looking for a nice story about siblings that were separated.  I also recommend this to parents that have twins that are looking for books that has twins as the main characters.  My twin and I read these books and think they are great books.

The Vampire Hunters by Scott M Baker book review

     This book is about a group of vampire hunters that are hunting vampires in Washington DC.  It is a horror/adventure kind of story.  The characters are really well written and the story flows very well.  I really like it.
     The book centers around three hunters that are hunting vampires in Washington DC.  Their names are Drake, Alison, and Jim.  Drake and Alison have been hunting vampires for a while and have a little more experience then Jim does.  Jim is more of the weapons expert and designer of the group.  Drake is the leader and Alison is the strong fighter of all three.  They end up becoming people of interest for a reporter named Jessica who wants to know why when the three of them get arrested they are released the next day with no charges.
     My favorite part of the book is the final fight scene, where they are pretty much fight a whole coven of vampires.  I like how that part divides up what each of them are doing to try to stop the coven.  I also like how the main vampire characters are written and how they became vampires which is really interesting.
     I highly recommend this book.  I love horror and adventure books and recommend this anyone that likes those types of books.  It is a real page turner and is written very well.  I look forward to more stories from this author.
